oh and...if you want to read other blag entries....

check out what Brian and Lindsey, Eva S., and Mackenzie wrote :)

Has it really been almost a month since my last post? Whoops.

Well if this isn’t just ridiculous. Last blag post was on November 18th. Apologies for those of you who enjoy reading on this thing. Following are my list of whiny excuses:
·         Typhoid
·         Malaria
·         Amoebas
·         The aftereffects of having taken a 20 (billion) day course of Cipro—don’t do this at home. It’s not fun. Uh. But definitely do it if you get the typhoid.
·         General Laziness
·         Traveling (I went to Batouri for Thanksgiving with the Corps of Peace, Yaounde for a Toga Party and Foumban, West Province for their ‘once every two years festival’)
·         Trying to figure out the University
·         Classes
·         Cooking!
·         Visitors
·         Reading Austen books. Hi Shayna!
·         Giving a Presentation to CAMELTA at the East Province’s Meeting (Cameroon English Language and Literature Teachers Association)
·         Working on organizing a jazz and traditional East Music Concert for January
·         Being excited to go see NINA in SOUTH AFRICA

Yeah, so I’ve been a busy girl. Right now I’m staying at Ewa and Agnes’ house. Ewa is out of town, coming back on Sunday, they fumigated my house (again) today and Agnes is leaving me on Monday for Poland. The Jerk. I was supposed to go to Yaounde with her, thereby hitching a FREE ride with priests and avoiding the dirty dirty crowded bus. C’est vraiment dommage. We were also planning on going to see Michael, err, Billy Jackson, but I guess that plan is down the drain.

I think flexibility is a skill that cannot be undervalued as an American living in Cameroon. Now this is me not complaining but complaining a little bit. I’ve been in Bertoua four days over two months (being sick one month…just finishing the last bit of being sick before I take off for Jesusmas) and I think I’m doing pretty well in terms of getting my stuff done. I mean the above lists shows that I’m not just sitting around, right?! I am however in a constant state of confusion. Hopefully (and this is what I’ve been told) next week much of my 'how-does-the-university-work' confusion should all be sorted out. The other professors and I are going to sit down and have a pow-wow to figure out when we will be having classes next semester! Which means I get to participate! And have a choice! And I’ve been here long enough to have at least a little bit of an idea about what I want! It’s like I’m getting a vote, even though to vote I had to cancel the mini-trip that Eva, Mackenzie and I had tentatively planned to go climb Mt. Oku. No worries though, Père Daniel was like, “No that will like totally happen in the future. We’ll make sure of it!” (um, if he could speak English with a tone like that my life would be made.)

So basically next week will be Cameroonian meetings (which are long and probably involve not getting much done), beering and Christmasing with my priests, and heading out of the country!

I’ll even consider making a new year’s resolution to being a better blagger.

xoxo
